HELPCan anyone tell me about the 4310 Hydro with A loader. I bought a JD 4600 hydro 2 months ago. Hate to tell the JD people but I have had nothing but trouble. First, the same tire went flat 3 times with no sign of a leak. Finally they had to put a tube in it because it was probably a very slow rim leak. Then the bucket wouldn't float. Parts and labor were covered but not travel time. Three service trips, a valve replacement and $350 before it was fixed. Because they had to remove housing 3 times to fix the detent valve, the self tap screws that went into the plastic fenders cross threaded and wouldn't hold. They had to be bolted. I am really discusted. I went back and forth between these 2 tractors but went with the JD because of the poor design of the Kubota Hydro pedal. Despite what others on this board have said, I believe that the Kubota is much better made. I am seriously considering selling this tractor and getting the Kubota. The fact that the loader is more difficult to remove on the Kubota is of no consequence to me and I never break turn so That's not an issue either. I had a JD 950 for ten years and never did a break turn or took off the loader. But I do need the Hydro. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.Thanks,John

John, Sounds like most of the problem could have been avoided if your dealers service dept. had been more thorough with their pre-delivery inspection. I can tell you I would have been furious if a customer of mine had to go through what you have. Sit down with the service manager and ask to see the hard copy of the P.D.I. on your tractor. I realize that warranty doesn't cover road time, and mileage but your dealer has ways around these things in special instances. In my opinion you would qualify. These decisions are up to your dealers Territory Aftermarket Manager. If the dealer values you as a customer, he should not hesitate in contacting his T.A.M. on your behalf. Hate to see you change colors after being happily green for so long.

I purchased a 3410 HST this past July. I have never found the hydro pedal hard to use. When going forward the pedal design allows you to place the rear part of your foot on the deck while using the front portion of your foot to control the speed. It is comfortable and easy to use. When backing the foot rests on the whole pedal and provides smooth control.
As for the loader, after the first time it has never taken me more than 5 - 10 minutes to disconnect or re-install it. In fact it is so easy that I remove and re-install it every time I cut grass. Incidently, the LA 481 and 681 loaders are both covered by one manual and the removal/installation directions are the same, so I assume a 681 will be as easy to work with.
The only thing I do not like about the Kubota is the speed control. I have found it awkward to use and borderline unsafe to release due to the need to increase speed or brake hard to release it. Frankly, the hydro pedal is so comfortable that I don't bother with the speed control anymore. ....

I have an L4310 with the factory cab and the 681 loader. As for the treadle for the hydrostatic tranny, it seems like an OK way to do things but I did have to get used to it. It lets you have very precise control. One thing on mine though is that the treadle starts to take on an engine frequency vibration at rpm settings close to PTO speed. This vibration becomes very noticeable and quite irritating. I've complained to the dealer about it but he has no clue what to do. As for the 681 loader, it seems to have plenty of lift capacity. But the control valve on mine is a joystick that operates cables to the valve. It is the worst arrangement I have ever used. You have to push the handle sideways to roll the bucket which is typical. But the force required to simply move the lever sideways is excessive to put it mildly. With the lever forward it is impossible to also move sideways. The John Deere loader control is much easier to operate. I would rather have two levers than this arrangement. I think the problem is because they use cables on this control and rather strong springs in the valve. It's also possible that my cables are binding in some way. I'll be asking the dealer to look into both of these issues when the tractor goes in for the 50 hour service. The factory cab on this tractor is absolutely super. As far as I know Kubota is the only company that offers a cab of this quality. It was one of the main reasons for my choosing this model over JD 4500/4600. ....

John, I have a L4310 HST 4WD with about 50 hours. I have had no problems with the machine so far. The HST pedal is very easy to operate and I have not experienced any vibration in the pedal while the PTO is in use as listed earlier. I also have the LA681 loader. The controls require a light hand and allow precise control. I have the standard joy stick control that mounts to the right side of the loader. I have taken the loader off and reinstalled it once and it took about 5-10 mins. So far I have used a tiller, chipper, box blade, and a backhoe with no problems. I did not like Kubota’s placement of the hydraulic control valves mounted low down and to the right side of the seat. They would be hard to reach when looking over your shoulder so I went with my dealer’s recommendation and mounted the hydraulic control valves on the right fender. Not a very pretty setup but a very natural place for your arm and hand to lay on the valves. This allows fine adjustment of the 3PH under load such as a box blade. I am amazed at how precise you can be with the box scraper while finish grading. I have not had a need to use the steering brakes or the speed control. ....
